subject: W95 remote printer?

High! Jeff,
Ref: W95 remote printer?, dd.01-May-97, from: Jeff Dunlop
JD> Is it possible to set up a W95 Netware client to remote
 JD> despool a Netware queue?
Yes.
But since that doesn't do much good I'll give you the recipe.
This will replace an old DOS based remote printer with one on a Win95
machine using Microsoft Client for NetWare networks on a Novell 3.12
network where remote printers used to be serviced by the PSERVER with
the name PSU (change this name as needed).
Remove queue
Start PCONSOLE, select 'Print Queue Information', select queue, DELETE,
Yes, ESC. Select 'Print Server Information', PSU, 'Print Server
Configuration', 'Printer Configuration', select printer, DELETE, Yes,
ESC. Select 'Queues Serviced by Printer', select printer, DELETE, Yes,
ESC. Close PCONSOLE.
On the server console enter:
UNLOAD PSERVER
LOAD PSERVER PSU
Create new queue and server
Star PCONSOLE, select 'Print Queue Information', INSERT, name of queue,
ESC, 'Print Server Information', INSERT, name of printserver, ENTER,
'Print Server Configuration', 'Printer Configuration', ENTER, name of
printer, ESC, Yes, ESC, 'Queues Serviced by Printer', ENTER, INSERT,
select queue, set Priority to 1, ESC, ESC, ESC, ESC, ESC, ESC, Yes
On the server console enter:
UNLOAD PSERVER
LOAD PSERVER PSU
Installing Microsoft Print Agent
Control Panel/Network/Add/Service/Add... select Microsoft/File and
printer sharing for Netware networks/OK. Select Access Control/
User-level Access Control, enter the name of the server in the textbox
"Obtain list of users and groups from:". Select Configuration tab,
Add..., Service, Add..., Have Disk... and enter the location of the
files on the Win95 CD-ROM: drive:\ADMIN\NETTOOLS\PRTAGENT\. Windows can
now see the .INF files for the printagent. Agree with every question
until you are returned to the Network dialog. Windows will copy the
files and ask you to restart.
Use the Print Agent
Start/Settings/Printers right click on the printer that you want to use,
select Properties/Print Server/Enable Microsoft Print Server for Netware
and select the queue you just made.
