| subject: | Furnace fan? |
I have a 30 year old furnace, (replacement is not an option, at this time) and, for the sake of efficiency, I'm thinking of increasing the run-on time of its fan. The fan control is a single box, with a dial scale of "80" to "120". Am I correct in assuming that the scale is in degrees Fahrenheit, and that the setting controls both start and stop points? Aside from motor/blower wear, what other considerations should be taken into account if I decide to lower the setting? If my above assumptions are correct, will a setting that is too low prevent proper heat-up of the heat exchanger?
