-> -> As long as you don't go put your good right hand into a sneaky hidden
-> -> mess of fire ants anytime too soon, while pulling weeds, think of the
-> -> future as happy possibilities.

-> WC> One day unknown to me sitting on a bus bench a whole crew of the
-> WC> little monsters ran up my legs.

->  Ugh... that's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddd ...  It's interesting that the
-> bite mark (the red welt) doesn't show up for awhile... but the burning
-> feeling takes days to go away. I've found aloe vera seems to help cool
-> and heal the skin. Apt named critteer sor sure...

The burning sensation lasts but an hour for me but they heal at the
usual rate.
Unlike the first time I was bit by a single fire ant and it
appeared like I'd had an allergic reaction.

My entire body from the waist up welled up into raised red welts
that lasted for weeks.

Don't know why that reaction never recurred.

-> WC> Once I stepped onto the bus it irritated them, they released the
-> WC> chemical signal to bite simultaniously and I did an impromtu
-> WC> dance on the bus as I attempted to snuff the nasty buggers.

->  They really are nasty.

In the yard I just look at the weather radar and if I see a rain storm
headed this way an couple hours off I broadcast some grits ( uncooked)
into the yard.

The workers feed the queen the grits, it rains, she drinks and the grits
swell up, pop no more queen, no more colony.

You can ID fire ant colonys in they generally build mounds in a straight
line.

-> WC> Must have looked like a total lunatic

->  Didn't you holler FIRE?

I explained by uttering "fire ants",
as I slapped my jeans against my legs smashing the little monsters.
