JB->TT>We're talking Paradox here, right? Hmmm, let me slightly rephrase my
JB->TT>question. Will the Paradox runtime run as well on a 4 Mb machine as
JB->TT>the full database package run on a 8 Mb 'puter?
JB->I can only compare PDox.Win 4.5 vs. the 4.5 Runtime, but you are going
JB->to need at least 6 Megs for the Runtime version, and 8 Megs is really
JB->more like it. I got two systems up and running with the 4.5 Runtime on
JB->486SX-25 machines with 4 Megs and Smartdrive disabled, but it wasn't
JB->pretty. OTOH, they liked my app well enough on the 8 Meg machines to
JB->pony up for the extra memory on the 4 Meg machines...
Can you give any idea/rule of thumb of what level of work it is
to convert an application from PDOX to Runtime?. Easier to rewrite?
I program in C and Pascal (and Qbasic if it matters), but the construction
jobcosting program I've written for one client, needs to be expanded
with directory management, Multiple Jobs (or companies). I think
it would run faster, and be easier to sell to others.
Presently the program has 4 pulldown menus (subprograms)
manages 2M of DB files. Script (SC2) is 14K main, 24K in 2 libraries.
