BJ> Reid, if you're familiar with the Sangean 818CS, how would one of

Not to familiar but I imagine its similar to the DX-440? Anyway
regardless, you need to take the rigs speaker output and feed it into
the DSP directly then send the output back to a speaker! I can not
remember if the 818CS has an external speaker output jack? If it does
great, but if it does not you will have to install one to make it easy
to connect the 818CS to the DSP, then I think connect the DSP to an
external speaker to hear the results of the DSP processing of the
signal! I have found that the Rat Shack Minimus 7 to be an excellent
external speaker!!! I am using 2 of them. One for my Icom R-71a and
one for my Ham Radio Kenwood tribander. They sound really good for the
with these rigs! Much better then the built in speakers these rigs
come with!!! Any good external speaker alone will improve the sound
quality speaker output of any rig I have ever tested!!! With the DSP
unit this should be even better!!! AS for using the RAt Shack DSP for
for digital decoding signal processing before the signal speaker out
put is sent to your digital decoder, I am reading that the Rat Shack
DSP is not to good for Digital but for SSB voice its not bad at all! I
have not tried it and do not think I will because I have been looking
at a really good DSP processor which costs much more but can do much
more! One of these days I will probably get a JPS DSP NIR-10 which
costs about $350. It does it all except music! Digital, voice etc.
73's de Reid,
... Klingon's do not issue QSL cards !
