Sorry, but you're wrong. One of the principle features of the Berne
Convention is the "no formalities" clause which states that copyright
automatically attaches to a work at the moment of creation with no formal
registration or notice required.
Of course, if you live in a country which isn't a signatory of the Berne
Convention, then all bets are off.
