Hello Fred!
On Saturday April 01 1995, Fred Brucker scribed the following words onto a
parchment scroll and magically transported it to Doug White:
FB> DW} time remaining and the 'remaining' bar don't
FB> } work with single file transfers.
FB> It should work. What kind of system are you calling? Maybe they
FB> don't provide the information. Have you tried it on a regular BBS?
I was using UNIX sz.
However, I've found that it works some of the time, and not others. I think
it depends on whether the sending zmodem uses 'batch mode' sends or not.
Files can be sent in two modes: Batch transfer (ZModem sends total xfer
info, then each file, toggled on using @ with d/gsz) and
single-file (doesn't provide total xfer info, but it can send multiple files,
one after another). It works OK with BBSs, but not with sz.
For example, if I use the unix command 'sz *.*' I will get all the files in
the directory, but no batch info, not even for each file as it is sent. But
if I go on to a local BBS, it works fine.
Try using GSZ. In single-file mode it doesn't show any info (in the
upper-right hand corner) for the batch transfer, but if they send in batch
mode you get that info, even if there is only one file being sent.
I will look in the gsz and dszbg.doc files and see if anything is mentioned
about this.
Thanks Fred!
Until swords part,
