JAY EMRIE wrote in a message to ROY J. TELLASON: RJT>JE> Another tid bit on voice recognition. Most of the programs will get RJT>JE> a considerable higher percentage of accuracy when interpreting a RJT>JE> female voice than when trying on a male voice. RJT>What's your source for this? JE> Quite a bit of experience. It's not something I've ever actually messed with, myself. The idea of having to train software doesn't hold a whole lot of appeal for me. I did get a hold of one package at one point that was supposed to enable you to give voice commands to a computer, and I loaned it to my brother to check out, and he wasn't all that happy with it either, so I never bothered to install it. RJT>I know I heard a while back that police and fire dispatchers with RJT>female voices were more easily understood by those out there in the RJT>field. Can't remember where I heard that, though. :-) JE> That just goes to prove my contention. Personally, I rather prefer listening to female voices myself. :-) ---* Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 270/615 150/220 379/1 633/267 |
