Hello Richard!
On Thu 01 Jan 1998 at 17:24 you wrote the following to All:

WD8013 chipset cards were reasonably common.

Old standard. Also known as DIX - you'd use this with old thick ethernet
(10Base5) - which is very rarely used, and specialist applications
You should use the 10Base2 for a home network - i.e the BNC.
 RT> and thin ethernet with an IRQ jumper tag 3 4 5 7 2/9 10 11 15
Sets IRQ (obviously!)
 RT> A ROM jumper 16K 32K 64K NONE,
Boot EPROM - set to NONE.

That would be for the shared memory area, which this type of card uses, I
believe.
RT> It has a network address sticker with 0000C0 7F1307
Ethernet hardware address unique to this card by the sound of it.
RT> I've not done any LAN before so what are the 15-way
 RT> connector pinouts?
I have them somewhere, but they're probably of very little use to you
RT> Can this be used as a domestic LAN card with WfWg3.11?
Yes, use the BNC in a bus type config rather like this:
terminator-T--------------T-------------T-terminator
           | | |
          card card card
You put a t-piece on each card, join each card to the next with ethernet
cable (50 ohm coax) and put 50ohm terminators on the ends of the network run.

No, AUI is basically no use to you unless you have all the taps, adaptors and
leads that go with a thick ethernet setup. Expensive, and very little point,
unless you want a >200m network.

MSD is probably broken. Provided you have no conflicts, this card should work
properly in WFWG with no problems [famous last words]
