Antti, I won't be saying this very well so bear with me.

Everyone practices discrimination of some form or another. Most forms of
discrimination on Race, sex, National origin, age, disability will be
illegal, however discrimination could include having males and females to
use separate restrooms, Our airlines are starting to charge overly large
travelers additional money as they take up additional room and/or increase
the weight on the plane. Plus size clothing costs more than normal. These
forms of discrimination are legal and rational ( imho)  but they do fit the
definition of discrimination.

Insurance rates may differ based on Sex, Age, etc. This is discrimination
but there is a logical reason for this as there is a lower risk factor for
females than males. At one time life rates at least were also based on
race. Greater chance of dying if you were black. That is no loner allowed.

A recent issue here has been race based university admissions. Minor would
be given additional points for admission to 'level the playing field'.
Universities may give preference to children of Alumni or donors. The
president has come out against that. Veterans have a 'preference' in being
hired for government.

So there is a lot of discrimination that is legal, some justified (imho),
some that is not justified.
