You'll need more than a day. But then this is true of most computer
languages. Find yourself a cheap beginners' introduction to the C++ language
in your favourite quality bookshop. (And be aware that titles that mention a
specific compiler, such as "Visual C++", in their title are probably going to
teach you more about the idiosyncrasies of a particular compiler and platform
than about the C++ language itself.) You'll also need to have a reasonable
understanding of what a compiler actually *is*, the difference between source
and object code, makefiles, and linking.
