You can do that.

How the heck do you want that to work?  If they're transferring a file, and 
Max stuffs "... is paging ..." in the middle of the transfer, won't the 
protocol barf?
If they're in an external program, how can Max (which by that time isn't even 
in memory, except for a small reload stub) send a message to the user?
