NH> Why would someone WANT to write a 32-bit DOS app.. Is there a 32-bit

No - but DOS being completely dumb (i.e., it lets you do whatever you want),
you can switch the PC's addressing mode into 32-bit mode to access memory in
chunks larger than 64k, and to access total memory greater than 1 meg. Last
C++ program I wrote at home would use 2-3 meg in a single session, sort it,
and then display statistics. Without 32-bit DOS, I'd either have to learn
how to do all of this in EMS/XMS, in swap files, or just skip it. (It was an
OS/2 app - no problem there - but someone requested a DOS version... not a
problem when I compiled it with Watcom.)
