following up a message from Franco Rios to Fred Reich:

A 'SOHO' huh ?! Sounds simple, but what about a second line
dedicated to your business ?! It would take the weight off
of the residence line, and SHOULD be a tax writeoff as well.
I've found that having an ISDN line put in (one BRI) has not
only provided a high speed ISP access line (128k), but the
voice quality is -VERY- good and puts forth a bit more pro-
fessional sound on first contacts with clients and suppliers.
Plus, the ISDN BRI gives you TWO seperate access numbers.
(one for voice, one for data/FAX ?)
My ISDN line costs me about $27/mo base rate, and there is an
additional $.06 for the first minute and $.04 each after during
prime hours, and $.03 first / $.01 off prime, for every call I
make from here. I get 200 mins/mo FREE on wknds and holidays.
So... I usually dialup my ISP at midnight on Friday and leave
it online until midnight Sunday. (= 196 hours/mo)
(prices may vary with your local hardline carrier)
BTW: Depending on what yo are trying to DO on the internet,
there are several ways to automate your activities to
be launched automatically at non prime (business) times.
This might be another solution to your problem.
What exactly are you doing online when this conflicting
time occurs ?
Sincerely,
