--- Sez Clark Ray to David Marheine ---
CR> What's a trout have to do with a quintet?
Franz Schubert wrote a quintet for piano and strings known as
the "Trout Quintet", probably his most famous work. It was a
commissioned piece, calling for one movement in the form of
theme and variations on a song he wrote called "The Trout",
thus the name...
I always meant to get a copy of this on LP but I don't think
I ever did, probably owing to an innate distrust of classical
pianism. Eventually, I discovered Glenn Gould, but I still
suspect most of the rest of them of being closet Liberaces.
