Apparently a number of his Generals will resign if he does invade Iran,
and Iraq, if nothing else, shows that conquest is easy for a modern
military, but occupation & nation building are not, if done in a hostile
population. If Iraq is "Jihad Central", occupied Iran would be a magnet
for all the jihadi groups seeking to attack the "Great Satan".

You may be right, if the plans to unite the USA / Mexico and Canada
come to pass. As I see it, it is very difficult to destroy a nation
like the USA from without (militarily), but possible to do it from
within, through unchecked illegal immigration, multiculturalism
(especially with cultures that cannot or will not assimilate) etc.
I'm thinking of Islam here.

I did see a few reports, but local & regional issues have dominated,
eg the Indonesian plane crash with quite a few Australians dead, 
Cyclone George etc.
