| subject: | [WWW] Lance Storm 2.4.04 Q&A |
Message-ID: http://www.stormwrestling.com/020404.html More Q's and A's February 4, 2004 Unlike Raw of late, which seems to have a lot more T and A, I'm going to do more Q and A's . I hope you don't mind. Q: What are your thoughts on ephedra and WWE allowing products which contain it to advertise on their shows? A: I've used ephedra products before and don't have a problem with them. I think the problem is that people don't follow instructions and take matters into their own hands. I firmly believe people's stupidity is a far bigger danger than ephedra. As for advertising, as long as it is legal to sell a product I think companies should be allowed to advertise it. I don't think WWE should be making the call to disallow it. I will go as far with cigarette ad bans. As much as a HATE smoking, if the government doesn't have the balls to say this is a deadly product and make it illegal, who are they to say a company can't advertise it's "completely legal" product on TV? Q: Are you bringing back the archived commentaries? A: I honestly don't know for sure. I want to get a lot of other stuff done on the site first. Photo galleries, The Book Marks page, etc. When all that is done I may. It would take an awful lot of posting to get them all caught up. There has to be in the neighbourhood of 200 commentaries. Q: Are Terry Funks punches the stiffest around? A: I've worked with Terry twice and his punches weren't too bad. That said, he didn't hit me with his trade mark windmill punches, which are from what I'm told the stiff ones people talk about. Q: What are your feeling on Tattoos? A: I was a big fan of his. "Da Plane Boss, Da Plane". Seriously I'm not a fan of them. Permanent decorations are a mistake in my opinion. I think I look to long term at things to ever consider a tattoo. They look nice enough when you get them but they always look really bad when the person gets older. I can't see grandpa Bautista's big back tattoo looking all that cool, when he's 50-60. Q: Do you speak French? A: Nope. Not very much anyway. I can speak a few words of French, Japanese, and German. Just enough to order a Big Mac and get slapped in a club. Q: How hard is it to maintain your diet on the road? A: Actually I find it easier to eat well on the road. My biggest problem with eating poorly is being lazy. It's much easier to order egg whites and chicken than it is to cook them. We travel the same roads over and over again so you find the places that do food the way you like. My biggest challenge is going to Bob Evans and not ordering their cinnamon hotcakes. I usually just order them and make sure I do cardio that day. You've got to have some fun. Q: What did your parents think when you wanted to become a wrestler? A: I don't have a very close relationship with my dad. (understatement of the year) I haven't spoken to him in about 8 years. At the time I decided to get into wrestling we spoke a couple times a year. I was in University doing well when I talked to him, the next thing he knew I had already had my first match. It was a done deal by that point. He wished me luck, but knowing that he hated wrestling I'm sure he wasn't thrilled. My mom hid her emotions well. I imagine she hated the idea too. I was always "The Good Son" and I think she figured I was going to be the University success story and never considered anything else. I would have agreed with her up until the moment I made the decision. She was supportive as hell and I love her for it. She tried to convince me to finish school first but didn't fight too hard. I think she had faith in me that I would succeed, or at least realize quickly if I wasn't, and go back to school and succeed there eventually. Q: Are you still in touch with Justin Credible? A: I haven't spoken to him since he left WWE. I tried calling him but when he first left he seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth. I think he changed his cell number and that was that. Unfortunately it is very easy to fall out of touch with people in the business. I wish I kept better contact with a lot of people. It's so hard to find the time. Sometimes keeping in touch with your wife and kids is hard enough to manage. Q: What is the difference between working with Ring Ropes and Ring Cables? A: Switching from one to the other really throws some people. It wasn't that big of a deal for me, but I think that is because I learned on ropes. You have to run ropes a little different because they give so much more. You can really use them to catapult yourself, so I think you can move faster and smoother with ropes, if you know how to run them, many guys who learned on cables don't. The down side is for guys who do spring board stuff. Cables being so much tighter makes balancing so much easier. With ring ropes you can be limited on some high flying stuff. Q: Is your elbow better? A: Yes it is, or at least it seems to for now. (touch wood). I decided to give not wearing the brace a try to see how it holds up and thus far I've been careful and have had no trouble. Let's hope it continues. That's it for another week, keep those questions coming.
