August,
DS> I can't help but think of the picture I saw on Facebook, with a
DS> bookstore whose owner was named "Wong Foo King". So, if you
DS> can't find what you want, you're at "The Wong Foo King
DS> Bookstore".
AA> HA! The logic sounds a bit backwards, but it's still funny.
It took a moment when I read it, before "the light came on". :P
AA> My book shop is next door to a heritage/vintage/thrift shoppe. Our
AA> front entrances are similar. I'll get people half-open my door and
AA> mutter "Wrong store."
AA> I should put up a sign, "See next door for wong foo king store"
That'd work.
DS> On another note, my late Mom had a large amount of books by
DS> Clive Cussler (he passed away this past February... my Mom died
DS> almost a year ago now), and I'd like to get rid of them. I also
DS> have a large amount of vinyl records... some that may have been
DS> produced 80 years ago. With COVID-19, many places are rather
DS> leery of acquiring these items.
AA> Cussler's are desirable, especially the early hardcovers, or 1st
AA> editions. A local shop may like to take them off your hands for a
AA> small bounty.
He has signed the majority of these, and my Mom read them all. Sadly,
I lost my Mom a year ago, and I saw where Clive passed away this past
February. I believe his son, Dirk Cussler, is doing the majority of the
work now. Their annual convention, which this year, was to be a memorial
celebration of his life, was cancelled, due to COVID-19.
AA> Unless you have some Beatle's or Elvis in your vinyl collection, the
AA> going rate seems to be about $100 for a milk crate full.
I'll take anything I can get. I'm sure I have at least 100 LP records.
AA> LPs from 80 years ago would be recordings in the 40s? Check places
AA> like discogs.com for anything similar.
Possibly so. I'll make a note of that. With COVID-19, though, most
places are very picky on what they take.
