Hi everyone,
I normally try to stay out of politics... but this relates to the BBS
community and I cannot resist.
I urge everyone who cares about unsolicited commercial e-mail (spam) to
boycott the RIME (or RelayNet) mail network.
Their head "administrator," Don Barba, recently spammed me with an
advertisement to join RelayNet for some annual fee. As I do with all of my
other junk mail, I complained to his ISP and told him to cease and desist.
Don, apparently taking his marbles and going home, indicated that I would no
longer "be welcome to join RelayNet(tm)".
I guess I am supposed to feel bad(tm) about this -- but when you consider
that I am also no longer welcome to buy any cable descrabmlers, get a
subscription to www.sexxxyartichokes.com, MAKE MONEY FAST, or take advantage
of any of the other similar "Our research shows that this information may be
of intreest to you" JunkSpam that fills my mailbox, I don't feel so bad after
all.
So, if you want to help keep the net spam-free, I urge you not to join RIME.
If you are in RIME, the best way to help is to quit the network and make sure
they know why you are leaving! (Don's e-mail address is
drbarba@relaynet.org.)

Standard disclaimer:
Of course, these opinions are mine and mine only, and participation is
voluntary. Obviously, I'm not forcing anyone to drop RIME, and I'm only
asking you to support me if you feel that this is a good cause.
