Yes, thats what we were saying, out of memory errors are unusual even in a
low memory system, but also agree that if you are getting them, things need
checked out, as it is so unusual, something is up.

That would seem to indicate a problem. Generally I would assume an
application has a memory leak, or the application is not allocating itself
enough stack space or something. In this situation it might be good to have
a method of checking this out, although if no programs are running, or have
been run, and you get that error just by clicking on a system object,
something rather basic is out of order.
