i have a creative lbs 33.6.  my phone line is a splice off the original
line and has other problems underground with roots and such, so, i often
have some bad line noise.
my friend has a usr 33.6 and if we connect with a program like qmodem,
we usually get a 31.2 connect and things work fine.
however, if we try to connect with Any program other than qmodem, such
as a game like diablo, war2, etc, the program will not run unless my
friend with the USR calls into my computer.  if i try to call him, the
modems will connect, but then no more data can cross between the modems.
it's a strange error.  it could be due to my phone line, a modem
incompatibility, or something else..
