Dear Donna,
When i went to the SCA event, all i paid was to get in [$9] , but
my woods and help is so costly that i don't make big profits and since
i buy some of my merchandise at yard sales [ like wooden dishes and
leather jackets to recycle] and that it may be years between when i make
or buy a particular item and when i sell it-if i do] , it would take a
pretty fancy book keeping system to keep track of whether i made a
profit. I am a craftsman, not a book keeper. I do what i like and
hope i can afford the loss if there is one.
Yes, there definitely is an SCA group in your town. If you are
interested, just call your local Chamber of commerce for the contact
person. Ren Fairs are not the same as the SCA. Different period even.
The group you sold fabric to and practice fighting in the park are
probably the SCA. Good luck on finding them. I dove in about 7 yrs
ago and never intend to come up for air.
Shalom, ll [ or if you prefer: Lady Jemila del Lirio]
