I understand the sentiment, but I suspect that puts you in the minority. I
believe most creative people are driven to create because it's an essential
element of who they define themselves to be, and it isn't tied per se to
particular levels of post creation artifact ownership or compensation.

I believe most engineers exhibit this behavior, especially given how
relatively poorly paid they are compared to other mainstream professions
(law, medicine, etc).
