{in the old Timex commercials, John Cameron Swayze strapped a
Timex 
to the propeller of an Evinrude Outboard Motor. Put the motor in a drum of
water, and turnd it on. Stopped the motor, removed it from the water, and
showd that the watch was still working properly and intoned "take a licking
and keeps on ticking"...  Classic commercial around '62 or so..
