Checkers is surprisingly computationally expensive. There are times
when the results of a move may not show up for 40 or 50 moves. That's
hard for a computer to deal with. Although chess is more complicated
game, in many ways, it's easier to program. With chess, many things are
still 'fuzzy', and any inaccuracies probably wont cause the program to
lose the game. But with checkers, things to tend to boil down to a
won/lost position, so an error will almost always cause it to lose.
