| subject: | Pit bull story |
-> The following was a note to me from Mike Roberts. Asked me to relay it -> to Wayne but I think he means to the thread here on pit bulls. This is -> something. I got to watch that show. :) I have read stories of various -> mammas nursing babies of other species... -> BTW, tell Wayne ( as I don't get to post as much as I'd like when -> working on the system, I saw a pitbull on animal planet this morning who -> was feeding a little deer from her breast. It was kind of ironic, the big -> ol nasty Pitbullreputation and this little deer being fed. Anyone with a lick of sense should realize the Pit Bull need be no more dangerous than any other dog. It's all in how it's trained. First it's a canine with canine instincts which includes the instinct to seek or try to be the pack leader, this cannot be allowed to happen. The owner must establish him or herself as the pack leader first, only then can you allow yourself to make the dog your friend. To this very day I still routinely run Spanky through certain commands demanding immediate response and this maintains my "pack leader" status and I've got a safe dog. Now man bred the breed to be tough as nails and they can't e beaten off if raised to be mean. I've talked to people commenting on Pit Bulls they've owned, many tied concrete blocks to their collars to ake them tough and mean while others fed them gunpowder to make the dog plain crazy. That's not the dog's fault. Others just treat their Pit as a friend without recognizing the need to establish the leader status which leads to a Pit Bull that's not really reliable, it may live out it's life without incident or it may attack someone. In March my unneutered Pit will be 16 years old and his worst offenses were he's gotten into the kitchen trash 6 times in the 14 years I've owned him. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
