*** Quoting George Pope from a message to Mike Roberts *** GP> I'm not belittling their staying behind with their pets, just the GP> arrogance that presumes that a place in a rescue boat should go to GP> their pet before a human neighbour. . . No, I know what you mean. Being an animal lover myself and also a member of the human race, I understand peoples attachment to their pets. However you are right. If push comes to shove. The value of Human life has to come first. That is why I say, it would depend on the circumstances. As I say, in my case. If it was a choice between me catching the rescue boat, with my Dogs or other pets, and we already survived the storm to begin with. Take the neighbors. If you can later, come get us. This reminds me though, George.. OTOH, I did not like that crap of, we know what is good for you, you're outta here and the dogs stay. Forcing some of them to leave their animals behind. I just don't like that one bit. I might have to stomach it if I was in the situation. But I would hate it. Same as some of those who lost their loved ones. They did not like it either. But some of their loved ones lost their lives. I am afriad I would liken that the same way. Just like families were torn apart. I think later on in the rescue mission they realized they were wrong to force people to leave their pets, and after many were evacuated, they did start coming back picking up people and their pets. I saw on the news tonight, that they are actually helping people pack up their dogs in Galveston Texas so the dogs and other pets could be evacuated also. Peoples attachment does seem to be strong and in some cases as Wayne had said, stronger than some Family ties. Have a Good One! Mike ...
