Replying to a message of mark lewis to Ross Cassell: ml>> FWIW: i don't understand everyone else whining about folk using the ml>> services that they have paid into for so long and never will use... RC>> When the system gets abused by those who didnt pay into it? ml> why is that abuse? there is nothing that i'm aware of that says anyone ml> who participates in is must have paid something into it... ml> why is it abuse when they can use the monies that you have paid in ml> that you'll never use? IMO one way to eleiminate the welfare 'problem' is to put a firm time limit on how long one may draw it - say one year. After that period one would have the option to move to a government owned housing area (condo, apartment, closed military base, whatever) and receive government issued food (in dining halls, no kitchens in the units) and clothing. If one - or one's children - misbehaves or trashes their quarters, they're on the street. The object is to take the money out of the system, and replace it with the necessities of life. Recipients are perfectly free to obtain employment - and pay rent of, say, 40% of their net income (sort of like the residents of the various 'St Peter's waiting rooms' aka 'assisted living facilities for the elderly' pay) - until they make enough money to move out into the economy. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 11/200 331 14/400 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 226/0 SEEN-BY: 230/150 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 SEEN-BY: 266/1413 280/1027 633/260 267 712/848 2320/105 200 5030/1256 @PATH: 379/103 116/901 3634/12 123/500 261/38 633/260 267 |
