For the same reason that taxpayers paid for decades to have ice
delivered to congressional offices twice a day. Where government
intervenes, reason disappears. As long as we allow government to
operate our schools we will continue to see the ridiculous product of
centralized planning and control just as the above illustrates.
In the case of education language is not the issue. Government
control is the issue. If the educational industry were privatized the
marketplace would naturally provide the services demanded by consumers
and questions of language in education would disappear. Supply and
demand would make the correct adjustments.
