I will say this and people can believe what they will and in some cases if they don't it is no skin off of my nose and it may be off theirs. I'll be short. I worked for GM for 30 years. Gm did have a quality problem. I remember when we made parts for Japan ( yes we made parts for them such as engine cooling motors etc. ) and if it did not meet Japanese specs, Gm would use it themselves. But that was not for a very long period. You don't just snap Your fingers and quality is produced. You have to work hard to attain it. In a timespan of about 10 years GM made a complete turnaround. In fact things became just the opposite. Our plant made parts for ourselves and Japan and Ford. During the last five years before I left. GM's standards for parts and quality was above those of Japan. I will admit, Fords was even Higher and good for them. In my opinion, and thats nothing, but I saw where GM made the necessary changes to make quality vehicles. does that mean that the Public is convinced? No! But I was amazed how much different quality issues had been changed. To specs that were higher than even Japan, who everybody seems to respect for their quality. At one time, Yes they exceled in quality over GM. But not anymore. If they do, oddly enough, it is from Parts from asia used in GM Parts that are sometimes a big problem, and cause production delays waiting for good parts. They used to build using questionable parts anyway, those parts now come from mexico or asia for the most part, saddly.
