When you get a 288k class modem by default you practically get the latest
firmware wether it be FLASHable or not. At least the basics are at a better
starting level than a 144k model. While you can have good results with a 144k
you'll have far greater capabilities with a 288k modem and with many newer
models provide a longer usable life before a newer or exceedingly better
modem comes along. Sooner or later Scott, you'll be on the 288k bandwagon.
