You can turn the phantom power switch on any mixer, and the dc is only
applied at the XLR input connector for condenser mics.  It's only
applied there, and it won't hurt a regular mic if it gets turned on.
He may have hit the button, but it didn't get to the reverb at all.
The reverb just went out on you at a most in-opportune time...
