| subject: | STAN`S A..HOLE GOVERNOR |
BA> RS>> Georgia's governor will pursue a lawsuit against the new BA> RS>> federal health care bill, even if the state's attorney BA> RS>> general refuses to do so, the governor's spokesman said BA> RS>> Thursday. BA> RS>> Gov. Sonny Perdue, a Republican, opposes the health care BA> RS>> bill because it will add 700,000 Georgians to the Medicaid BA> RS>> program and require people to buy health insurance or face BA> RS>> a penalty, said Bert Brantley, Perdue's director of BA> RS>> communications. BA> RS>> The state's attorney general, Thurbert Baker, a Democrat, BA> RS>> had advised Perdue against filing a lawsuit. BA> JB> 34 states currently have laws working their way through BA> JB> their legislatures that will forbid the government from BA> JB> forcing individuals to buy healthcare insurance. Virginia BA> JB> has already signed theirs into law. Now do you believe in BA> JB> state's rights, as outlined by the Constitution, or not ? BA> JB> Remember that this ax swings both ways. BA>Those 34 states and those involved in the lawsuit recently filed BA>against Obamacare are all wasting their time and efforts. Judges on BA>the federal bench - up to and including the Supremes - have for BA>decades been selected for their political ideologies, not for any BA>legal, judicial or Constitutional expertise. IMO Obamacare is a done BA>deal and the courts will decide against the states and void those BA>state laws that conflict with Obamacare. BA>What the states *need* to do is convene a Constitutional Convention BA>and put the brakes on the national government - maybe even dissolve BA>it. I can't offhand think of anything prettier than a lot of BA>unemployed (former) federal bureaucrooks. Many US states are BA>physically larger than recognized nations, have populations larger BA>than recognized nations and have economies as large or larger than BA>some recognized nations. Would play h*ll with the UN though... The states have been successful with state's rights on the subject of gay marriage. It is going to prove to be a very interesting process and it may turn out that another amendment will be needed. The Supreme Court is long overdue to rule on state's rights vs. federal powers. There are many areas where the US Congress has trampled state's rights.
