Especially when the crowd here is estimated to be at no less than RW> 15, 000. It was right warm here as well, with 94 the high for the day. A couple things helped with that, one being that ours didn't start until 530pm. I got there a bit later, and ours was in a large ampitheater used sometimes for rock concerts, etc. There are some tall trees nearby, so a good number of seats on the west side of the seating area were in the shade by the time I got there. The crowd here was a bit smaller than the one on 4/15, which was reported to be somewhere around 5K. Per the local police, their estimate of attendance at this one was around 3K. In addition to the heat, I'm sure the lure of other 4 July activities kept the crowd smaller than it might have otherwise been. I think I saw that they may have another one of these get-togethers in Sep, the weekend after Labor Day. That may not work out too well here since that's football season, and here in central AL most everyone is a rabid college football fan, and they all root for either AL or Auburn. Anyway, it was pretty interesting to see that many people interested enough to come out, and it was an eclectic mix of conservatives of various stripes - including independents, libertarians, Ron Paul rooters, Constitution party, etc. - - - JimH. ...
