The Pacific wasn't that great.  I dove with a outfit called Diving Safaris on
the west coast of Costa Rica.  The vis was only 20/40 feet at best.  I really
didn't see that much in the way of small fish life.  The butterfly fishes

entirely differently colored than any I have seen before.  The large fish 
ere
incredible.  I swam with pilot whales and saw many Mantas.  I have never seen
large fish like these.  The best place was Catalina Island which was a 60 min
boat ride from the shop.  The currents were sometimes unbelievalbe and I got
washed away once.  Catalina is definatly an advanced dive as they told us.

thermoclines were also unreal as they ran verticle as well as horizontal with
temps as low as 70.  The surface was 84 degrees and quite comfortable.  The
diving shop was really professional as they would take care of the gear after
every day.  The gear was always ready the next day with no problems.  I would
probably never go back though because of the vis.  I definatly like the
Carribean better.  Hope this dive report helps someone.
