| subject: | `Christians don`t?` |
On 02-23-07, ROSS SAUER said to FRANK VEST: FV> RS> Christians don't molest children. HOMOs do. - Tim Richardson FV>I really don't need the example, so . FV>I really must agree with Tim on at least part of his statement. FV>Christians don't molest children. People that claim to be Christians FV>might, but they are not Christians. RS>That's just it, getting into semantics. RS>"They aren't *REAL* Christians." RS>That's like saying "Osama isn't a *REAL* Muslim." RS>They are Christians, and Muslims. RS>Playing semantic games isn't going to negate their particular faith. RS>They aren't following the tenants of their particular faith, but they RS>are Christians, or Muslims, or whatever. Lets see if I can explain this in a way that will get through to you on some level: A `lot' of people *claim* Christianity as `their' way of life. Many of them are *not* really `Christians at all. There are also a lot of people who *claim* to be doctors. But they aren't. A lot of people *claim* to have done things in the military service. But they didn't. A lot of people *claim* to have seen things while they were in the military. But they really never did see what they claim to have seen. Unlike the last examples.......Christianity is sometimes a social `coat' which a person will take on and off at their `convenience', depending on who and what they're trying to impress at the time. A real good example of that would be Bill Clinton; In the midst of his `Monica-gate' woes, when his impeachment was on the verge of becoming a reality, and a Senate trial was in the offing.....he suddenly does a `photo op' on the steps of a church surrounded by ministers, with a bible tucked under his arm! You have to wonder where this bible of his was when Monica was `honkin' his horn'! Where was his `Christianity' then! Another real good example would be a criminal who is in prison for a long sentence, who comes up before the parole board about one third of the way through their sentence. If the sentence is 15 years and they've done about five, it sure would be nice to get out and not have to do that remaining 10 years behind bars. Suddenly, a few months before the parole hearing.......they `find the Lord'! An amazing conversion to Christianity takes place! Is it `real'? Who really knows. But it looks good to the parole board. Do they `fall' for it? Sometimes they do. And a dangerous criminal is let loose who saw how easy it is to pull the wool over the heads of a parole board in some states! Is `everyone' who *claims* to be a `Christian' really a Christian? No. Any more than everyone who *claims* to be a doctor is a `real' doctor. Any more than everyone who *claims* to have witnessed many crashes of aircraft when they were `in' the military, really `saw' any. Any more than everyone who *claims* to have worked on Warthogs in the USAF, really `worked' on one.
