I think I have some of the grease filled dampers that came out of
a photocopier. They were used to lower some heavy part slowly,
and were in conjunction with counter balancing torsion bar
springs about 1/4 inch thick! This was sure some heavy part that
was raised and lowered!

Just an aside about your replies: when you quote something near
the top of a message and reply to it, you are allowed to delete
