Hi Maurice!

06 Oct 2016 17:11, from Maurice Kinal -> Richard Menedetter:

 RM>> Which part??
MK> The 64 bit capable part.
MK> The faster part seems obvious (1.2GHz is faster than 900MHz).

The ARMv8 part is also obvious.

See the specs or wikipedia:
The new BCM2837 based on 64-bit ARMv8 architecture is backwards compatible
with the Raspberry Pi 2 as well as the original.

RM>> But I agree that a 64 bit OS is not on the top of the things we
 RM>> need.
MK> Understood but then why bother with a 64 bit cpu?
MK> It seems like a waste to me.

Why not?
It is a nice addition, and you are not forced to use it.
If you do not like it, stay with 32 bit.

RM>> The chip used in the odroid C2 is capped at 1.5GHz.
MK> I thought the 2GHz was quite the jump.
 RM>> http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products/prdt_info.php
MK> Excellent! Thanks for pointing it out.
MK> The last specs I saw were still claiming 2GHz.

Bacuse that is what Amlogix advertised ...

Here is a story about it:

 RH>> armbian is coming up
 MK> That doesn't surprise me.

It was a pleasant surpise to me.

Will try it out on my Orange Pi PC when I have some time:
