What do you mean "checking in"? I have an external SupraFAXModem 14.4
and have never experienced anything like that. Perhaps it is your init
string. Try AT&F2M0 or just AT&F2. What BBS software are you using? If
its WILDCAT! try AT &F2 E0 V1 S95=35.
Add M0 to that to turn off the speaker.
