I had a point using PPoint for a while that was also experiencing some
troubles with it. You might be better to just go and use regular BBS front
end software, such as FrontDoor, Binkley etc and a mail tossing program such
as Squish.

Hmmm.......actually they can be but I guess it depends on the BBS sysop and
the software they are using. Running Binkley and Squish here I have no
troubles sending NG's to points.

Again you should be able to as email is just an extension of
netmail.........if your sysop allows you netmail point priviledges then to
the best of my knowledge there shouldn't be any reason why you can't receive
gated UUCP type email.

Not trying to set on your toes here Jim, but IMHO you'd be further ahead to
try out some of the more standard BBS'ing type software........Frontdoor
v2.02, Squish v1.11 (both freeware) and a squish based mail reader such as
TimEd, GoldEd, MsgEd (I think this last one is freeware and available for DOS
based system but am not sure off-hand) or SqEd/32 (OS/2 program) etc would
do you just right. :-)
Of course too, if you have an internet account, then you'd be able to access
fidonet or other nets via ftp, TransX etc and all the newsgroups your heart
could want.
