LH> You'll never separate the drivers from their cars. Dallas has built
LH> (in the process) a light rail system. The completed portion includes a
LH> downtown subway. The starter extends from the northern suburb (Plano)
LH> all the way through downtown to the southwestern city limits.
The starter line is only built as far north as Park Lane.
It's projected to go to Plano some day, but that millions of dollars
and years of construction in the future.
LH> ... There will be commuter rail (heavy rail) from Dallas
LH> to Ft Worth with a stop at DFW Airport. This will follow the former
LH> Rock Island Railroad tracks between Dallas and Ft Worth. These tracks
LH> are now owned by the City of Dallas.
There is "heavy rail," if that's what you want to call
RDC cars, already in operation between Dallas and Irving. Probably
Tarrant County will go along eventually, there was a test movement
to Fort Worth reported the other day.
All that is in service is operated by DART (Dallas Area
Rapid Transit). The Tarrant County portion is not in DART
jurisdiction.
