RW> Indeed not! For it is written, "and Scripture can not
RW> be broken" [note Who said that!], "No good thing does He withold
RW> from those whose walk is blameless" [PSALM 84:11].
RW> Not to mention that Peter, in the concluding
RW> exhortation of his Pentecost sermon, said that the
RW> baptism of the Holy Spirit, which of course includes
RW> speaking in tongues, is "for you and your children
RW> and for all who are far off-- for all whim the Lord
RW> our God will call" [ACTS 2:39].
Where? Where does it say that tongues are the evidences of receiving the
Holy Ghost? You can not find such a thing in scripture. Randy, I was one a
tongue talking Pentecostal. I taught it! And I was wrong! I know all the
scriptures used to fabricate that assumption, but the facts of it do not
exist. On the day of Pentecost, they spoke
Hebrew! One language, being spoken by 120 souls. It was interpreted into
the hearing of 15 nations who witnessed this. It was as much a miracle of
hearing as it was speaking. I know what I am talking about here. I was
there in the midst of this modern day movement! I was caught up in it.
There is a gift of speaking in tongues, but they are not unintelligible
utterances, they are real and intelligible
languages, which were used to interpret the Hebrew Scriptures to those of
other tongues. If you speak in another tongue, you better speak with the
understanding also. I am sorry, but you folks are wrong about this, and I
know the harm it causes. It may seem "fun" and self satisfying spiritually,
but it is confusion. YaHVaH is NOT the author of confusion.
Paul, who spoke in more tongues (languages) than you all, did not get the
attention of the crowd by babbling a quaire utterance, but when he spoke in
the "Hebrew" tongue, everyone listened. Paul stated that he would rather
speak five words with understanding than 10,000 words of some unknown
language, however, churches continue to disrupt its services by allowing its
members to gabber with no understanding and no edifying purpose within the
church.
