RA>Good! It will probably be very useful when Rob shows up with half a
  >dozen hungry friends and says, "Mom, what do you have that we can
  >eat--right now?" I hope your nutritionist will allow you a piece
  >occasionally. My impression is that if something sounds particularly
  >delicious, it's probably in the forbidden category.
I could probably eat a slice just before I get in the car to take a
bunch of kids over to Delaware to go sledding. All that movement in the
snow would probably mean I could handle sugar.
The weatherman says it's going to snow tonight. I hope it does. I feel
like we haven't had enough snow here this winter yet. It snows, but
then it warms up and rains. It'll probably do that this time too. I
was talking with our crossing guard a little earlier today. She was
waiting for the kids to start coming home from school. I was out with
the dog. She told me she's sure it's too cold to snow right now; and
that it would need to warm up first. I don't think it's too cold to
snow. I don't think it *can* get too cold to snow in South Jersey.
RA>The next time I make cornbread, I'll have to try the microwave. I've

  >really can't imagine such a thing as left over fry bread.
We never have left over fry bread. But then again we don't have a lot
of left over anythings. Left overs are not a part of teener territory.
RA>It also cuts down on the fat a bit since you don't need fat to fry an egg
  >in the microwave. Gosh, how things have changed! I can remember when I
  >was a kid, I'd get up early on Saturday mornings while my mother slept
  >in, and I'd fix breakfast for my dad and myself. I'd get the can of
  >bacon drippings out of the refrigerator, put a dollop in the cast iron
  >frying pan, and when the drippings were bubbling, crack in the eggs.
  >While they were frying, I'd make the toast--plenty of butter on it and,
  >for me, strawberry jam. We thought that was a very good breakfast, but
  >now they would be screaming about fat and cholestrol.
I think fat was less of a problem then, because people were both more
active, using up the fat they ate, and they ate less fat in spite of
bacon drippings. Interestingly enough, vegetarian diets can be very
high in animal fats. I have a young friend (21 years old) who has a
high chlorestral count. The culprit: she refuses to eat meat, poultry,
or fish; so she's been eating cheese at just about every meal.
