Laws will vary. Here in Canada's westmost province, it is _illegal_ to 
transport live fish. All freshwater fish are considered "game fish" in the 
eyes of the law, and no game fish can be transported live. (I believe there 
are similar laws in place regarding saltwater fish as well.) Thus, "all game 
fish" include such things as the Pumpkinseed Sunfish that we have in Elk 
lake, here in Victoria, and other such things.
Pity, too. There's a variety of warm-water chub that lives in the Liard Hot 
Springs that have acclimitized to tropical-fish temperatures. They'd make 
great aquarium fish: run about two inches long (max) and have no problem with 
water of 75 degrees farenheit.
