It still states quite directly that the object/goal is the Father, with
a statement that he(Jesus) was there to help people find the way again.

Yes, that was the stated reason, but it's apparent from the
circumstances that Moses was snookered into that whole sin/error deal!

Maybe because the prophets clearly taught that no mediator was required,
and the prophets spoke the Word of God?
