WC> -> What's a "Florida sand spur"?
WC>
WC> It's the seed from a weed and is like a spiked ball with sharp
WC> protrusions all around.
WC> I didn't know what they were until I moved here either.
WC>
WC> When my dog picks up a few he stands there and waits for me to extract
WC> them from his paw.
WC> You have to pull them straight out quickly or the spines
WC> can break off and hurt too.

Sounds like a burr (the inspiration for velcro(tm))

WC> Ha, I've beaten these odds, I had mine 28 years ago.
WC> Still rather memorable.

Just the once? Lucky you!

I've had them 3-4 times that required medical treatment (lithotripsy --
blasting them with 10,000 PSI sound waves to shatter them!) (mine were nearly
an inch in diameter!)

& once they had to go "in" to blast them with a laser! :( (I
don't recommend
the experience!)

Because I care,
