Hello All.
I went to a Michael Craft store today and made the cutest
little craft with my daughter.
We took a 2" clay pot, a 1 3/4" wooden doll head (wooden
nob with one flat part), 1 1/2 black pipe cleaners, a bit of
plastic canvas, some black and yellow paint, a tiny pompom
and a small wooden heart (painted red) and some hot glue,
and made a honey bee for Valentines day.
For the head:
paint a yellow heart on the nob (for a face) this should
cover most of one side and paint the rest of the head
black when yellow is dry. Paint or use a black permanent
marker to mark two eyes and a smile.
For body:
Paint three stripes, 2 yellow with a black in the middle.
turn pot so small end is up.
For Wings:
Cut plastic canvas into a figure 8 shape. Run one pipe cleaner
thru two holes near center and twist to secure. Then using small
end of pot form a loop around the edges of the pot. Fold ends
about 3/4 of the way around and bend down for arms.
Putting pieces together:
Hot glue arms/wings to body. Then glue on head. Add pompom for
nose. Then bend the 1/2 pipe cleaner in half foling ends into
little knobs, glue center of this to top of head. Take a permanet
fine point pen and write a Valentine message on the red heart.
Then bend the arms and hot glue the ends onto the heart.
TAAADAA!!!! One honey bee! You could also look around near the
heads I saw some little wooden buckets that could be put into
the bee's hands instead of the heart.
About $2.00 per bee give or take a few cents.
Take care!
