-> WC> -> The thing up here is now the cops are shooting the Pit Bulls with bare -> WC> -> provocation (eg. cops kick the door in and the dog, naturally, goes to -> WC> defend -> WC> -> his home, as any good dog would, and the cops shoot to kill!) :( -> WC> -> WC> My Pit would evaluate anyone entering. -> WC> If he knew them no problem. -> WC> If they didn't appear to be up to mischief still likely no problem. -> Well, how do you think your dog'd evaluate a sudden attack(door kicked in, -> unknown men aggressively entering)? These animals move *fast*. I never even saw the one that went from my dog's throat to my hand and I was maybe 14 inches away face to face. -> WC> If they're strangers and act in a way the dog senses something's up -> WC> he'd first display his teeth and snarl standing his ground, after that -> WC> if they elect to enter, well tough luck. -> Of course, by this time, the cops are already inside, with guns drawn! (the one -> incident was a child's birthday party, so the dog(not even a pitbull, IIRC) -> dove in to protect the children, and the cop shot it dead right in front of -> this room full of kids!) :( Better shoot me too as my dog is beyond reproach. I've put my life on the line a couple of times for him. -> WC> There _is_ a way to get the dog to accept a total stranger -> WC> and gain access to the house with the dog inside with no trouble but -> WC> that is known to very few people like my landlady who might require a -> WC> handyman access while I'm not here. -> WC> Oh yeah, he's trained not to accept food from strangers too. -> But then your landlady's not a total stranger, eh? Point is with simple instruction a total stranger _can_ safely enter my home. The landlady knew the dog for some years when I lived next door and said she wouldn't rent to me _unless_ I brought the dog along :-) Honestly this dog is the safest dog I've ever known bar none. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
