Whatever you do, DON'T defrag an OS/2 FAT partition. You can blow away EAs.
the "EA DATA. SF" pseudo-file is deliberately fragmented to keeps EAs near
the files to which they are associated.

HPFS under Warp 3 is not stable until at least FixPak 5.

NTFS had blown up the system registry a few times, but I don't really have
enough NTFS experience to form an opinion.

No, but IBM has a good track record in this area, and they invented most of
the standard techniques for doing this in a mainframe context.
