Running KDE 3.5.5 now. What I did to get there:
Logged in as root. Typed this:
> yum groupinstall "KDE (K Desktop Environment)"
It ran for a while and asked me if it was okay to get 125 Megs of stuff and
I answered y and hit return.
Rebooting did not give me a choice of KDE. So instructions to that effect are wrong.
Then I had to log in as root and edit:
/etc/sysconfig/desktop
That file was empty.
I added two lines:
DESKTOP="KDE"
DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"
I saved and rebooted. Now I am in KDE and feel much better about the world.
The war in Iraq? The trade deficit? CO2 atmospheric build-up? It all seems
much more manageable with KDE.
